Dark matter, planetariums, and pictures

So tonight I made a last minute decision to go to the planetarium with Tiffany! I got an e-mail earlier about the program for this weekend, and it was about dark matter, which made me super interested in going. If you have never heard of dark matter, look it up; it’s weird stuff, but that’s what makes it so cool.
The planetarium is a neat place in the basement of Cooper. What’s great about the planetarium is that the shows are completely free and open to everyone in the community. At the show tonight, there were a lot of Ball State students, but there were also people from Muncie, including some kids.
After the show, we were able to go to the roof of Cooper and look at the stars. There were several high-power telescopes up there. It was cold, but there was a great view of the stars and the south side of campus.
Ball State is planning on making the planetarium larger and updating its technology. When all the remodeling is done, it will be the largest planetarium in Indiana. I’m kind of sad that I won’t be here when the new facility is introduced.
I’d encourage you to check out this place if you have the chance, even if astronomy isn’t something that interests you.
In other news, I got a new camera on Thursday, so I walked around campus and took some pictures in order to get a feel for the camera. Look below for some of the pictures!

This creepy thing was sitting in Frog Baby‘s normal spot. Frog Baby is under repair after someone spray painted her gold. I was leaving the library yesterday when I spotted this frightening doll.
